Intelliborn Released MyWi 5.5 For iOS 5.xx Users

MyWi has proved to be a hit among the iOS users. Now developers at Intelliborn have released MyWi 5.5 which adds support for jailbroken iOS 5.1/5.0.1/5.0 firmware, with all new Wi-Fi sharing as well as bug fixes. The new update will allow users to share their Wi-Fi connection via their own Wi-Fi hotspot.




The new package has gone many changes since the first version was released and has arrived with some massive features added. It radically improves the user experience of iOS 5.1x users. The change-long includes new from scratch total rewrite for iOS 5.x users, quicker initialization/broadcast of hotspot, quicker connection speeds, no encryption and WEP re-supported for iOS 5.x, bug fixes, more reliability, new Wi-Fi sharing, MyWi On Demand activates Wi-Fi hotspot through Bluetooth tethering. Three packages have been released by Intelliborn which are MyWi 5, MyWi 5.5 and MyWi OnDemand. The first one is for solving dependencies; the second is the real app while the third one is for OnDemand purchase.


For those who don’t know, MyWi is a popular tethering app that connects Laptops or mobile devices to share your iPhone or iPad’s internet connection by creating a Wi-Fi Hotspot. You can get MyWi 5.5 from Cydia through ModMyi repo for $19.99. It works with all jailbroken iPad or iPhone on 3.1.2 or later. It supports iPad 2/1 and iPhone 4S/4/3GS/2G. Make sure to install “MyWi 5.5 (iOS 5)” or “MyWi 5”. Those on iOS 5 should forgoe installing the one that says 3.x/4.x. There is a 3-Day free trial after you install it. It won’t work if you try installing it via Installous or UDID faker.

Some of you might face problems. Don’t press “Upgrade All”, just click on the MyWi “depiction” and press upgrade. If you don’t do that, you won’t be able to get the updated app. It is a bug and Saurik is expected to solve it in the next update. To avoid Bluetooth issues, disable or uninstall the “Pandora Downloader” if you have it. After installing the new MyWi 5.5, reboot the device so that it can fully take effect.
