Black SMS is an iPhone app that keeps your private SMS conversations hidden by covering them in a black shroud until you read them. This will also prevent you from going through the hassle of a passcode unlock every time you wish to use your iOS device, and Apple doesn’t offer anything like this.The app works with iMessage. You simply install the app and set a password, ant then type out the big secret. After you give the password to the other person for the conversation, you can simply copy and paste the message from Black SMS into iMessage and press send.
The message appearing on the recipient’s phone will just look like a black text bubble. He/she needs to copy the bubble, switch over to the Black SMS app, and paste the message. The recipient also needs to input the same password the sender used to encrypt the message. The secret text will then appear clear as a bright blue day within the app, and those who are trying to sneak in your iMessages app will be app disappointed.
The app is handy for situations where you want to keep things private, but it also draw attention that you’re keeping things private in the first place. Someone close to you might question that why you’re getting blacked out messages in the first place and likely to think there’s something fishy.
It should be noted that it’s not an SMS or iMessage app replacement, and can be used with email or any other encrypted text. It allows users to type text into the app and then have it encrypted, ready for decryption at the other end.
